Case Study: Transcription and Translation Services for a Texas Church

The client was a large church in Texas with multiple locations around the state. The church requested transcription and translation services for their Sunday sermons and for printed materials from English into Spanish. They reached out to us after reading our article on why language services are important for religious institutions.

The church reached out to us because over the last few years they have had a dramatic rise in the number of Spanish speakers who make up their congregation. As such, they wanted to make their sermons and church materials more accessible to those who speak no or limited English.

Atomic Scribe’s challenge was to ensure that the materials were translated and transcribed correctly without changing any meaning. As words have multiple translations, it takes a skilled translator to keep the original meaning while making it understandable to the intended audience.

Our goal was to find the perfect translators and transcriptionists for this task that understood the client’s vision and could help spread it to others. We were tasked with finding both translators who could translate written materials and transcriptionists who could transcribe Spanish transcripts from English audio.

After speaking with the client, we contacted two of our Spanish translators/transcriptionists who could translate and transcribe the church’s Sunday English-language sermon each week within 48 hours of receiving video of the sermon.

They also worked on translating previous sermons into Spanish so that there were transcripts of older sermons available. The translators then worked on translating informational pamphlets and flyers as well for the Spanish-speaking community.

Because of Atomic Scribe’s efficient system and communication, we completed and continue to complete all transcripts and translations within the allotted timeframe. Additionally, we:

• Achieved 99% accuracy on files, with almost no inaudibles
• Allowed for easy upload and download of files through the client portal
• Provided a simple way for the client to pay their invoice through the client portal
• Helped the client reach a new audience, which has helped their congregation numbers soar

Though this is an ongoing project, we hear from the client frequently how pleased they are with our service and our accuracy. We are so happy to have helped the church grow their platform and reach new people, as translation and transcription is a powerful tool at one’s disposal to grow.
